Why isn’t our nonprofit showing up as a donation option through the GoFundMe Giving Fund?

If your nonprofit isn’t appearing as an eligible organization when someone tries to donate through GoFundMe Giving Fund (DAF), we understand how frustrating that can be, and we’re here to help clarify.

GoFundMe Giving Fund (GFGF) is a 501(c)(3) public charity that manages donor-advised funds in accordance with IRS regulations. To protect donors and nonprofits alike, GFGF is required to follow specific eligibility rules when approving grant recommendations.

Here are a few common reasons your organization may not be showing up: 

1. Your organization is not listed as a 501(c)(3) public charity in good standing

GFGF can only approve grants to U.S.-based organizations that are officially recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity. If your organization is classified as a private foundation, or your IRS status is revoked, under review, or inactive, it will not appear in the list of eligible recipients.

2. Your organization is not currently in our nonprofit database

GoFundMe Giving Fund uses a trusted third-party database to identify and verify nonprofits. If your organization is newly formed, recently changed its name, or hasn’t yet been added to the database, it might not show up in search results.

3. Your organization is not based in the U.S.
 

At this time, grants from GoFundMe Giving Fund can only be made to U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charities. International nonprofits are not currently eligible to receive DAF grants.
