Why is my nonprofit showing up in the GoFundMe Giving Fund (DAF) product?

If you represent a nonprofit and have noticed your organization is listed in the GoFundMe Giving Fund (DAF) product - great news! That means your nonprofit is eligible to receive donor-advised fund (DAF) grants through GoFundMe’s platform. 

Here’s why your organization is included and what it means:

Why is our nonprofit listed?

The GoFundMe Giving Fund (GFGF) uses a trusted third-party nonprofit database to identify and verify eligible U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charities in good standing with the IRS. If your organization appears in the Giving Fund product, that means:

• You’re recognized as a qualified 501(c)(3) public charity
   
• Your tax-exempt status is active and in good standing with the IRS
• You’re eligible under IRS guidelines to receive grants from a donor-advised fund

Being listed in the Giving Fund allows GoFundMe users to recommend grants to your organization directly from their DAF accounts.

Do we need to take any action?

No immediate action is required from your organization. If someone recommends a grant to your nonprofit, the GoFundMe Giving Fund will reach out directly and send the funds once eligibility and charitable purpose have been confirmed.

That said, if your organization would like to provide updated contact or payment information, or has questions about an incoming grant, you’re welcome to reach out to us.

What if I want to opt out of receiving donations?

All nonprofits with active pages on GoFundMe would be able to receive donations through Giving Funds. If you no longer wish to receive donations, you can turn off your GoFundMe Nonprofit Page (in settings or by reaching out to our support team).
