DAF contributions: How to contribute to your Giving Fund

Making a contribution is simple. You can choose the amount and how you’d like to add funds, and then you’ll be ready to recommend donations (grants) to qualified 501(c)(3) charities you care about. 

An important note about DAF contributions 

When you contribute to your Giving Fund, you're making a charitable donation to a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) managed by GoFundMe Giving Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. That means your contribution is tax-deductible and, as required by law, it's irrevocable, which simply means that you have given up custody and control of the funds and they can no longer be used for anything other than the charitable purpose for which you designated them.

It's a meaningful way to commit those dollars to doing good, and you'll have the ability to recommend donations (grants) to qualified 501(c)(3) public charities, including religious organizations and schools over time, on your schedule, and in alignment with your values.

How to make a contribution

1. Log in to your GoFundMe account, navigate to “Your Giving Fund” in the drop-down menu in the top, right corner of your account. 
2. Click “Add funds”.
3. Choose from the available payment method options:
   • Bank account-Securely link your bank account through Plaid and contribute with no fees.
   • Debit or credit card-Pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. 
   • Transfer from another donor-advised fund
4. Type in the amount you’d like to contribute. The minimum amount is $5.
   • Important–Make sure to double-check the amount you’ve entered, as these contributions are nonrefundable and irrevocable once they’re contributed to your Giving Fund, as detailed above.
5. Click “Make contribution”.
6. Your contribution will be added to your Giving Fund and ready to recommend to certified non-profit fundraisers or charitable organizations.

How to make a recurring contribution

1. Log in to your GoFundMe account, navigate to “Your Giving Fund” in the drop-down menu in the top, right corner of your account. 
2. Click “Add funds”.
3. Choose between the two available payment method options:
   • Bank account-Securely link your bank account through Plaid and contribute with no fees.
   • Debit or credit card-Pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. 
4. Toggle your contribution to “Monthly”

5. Type in the amount you’d like to contribute. The minimum amount is $5.
   • Important–Make sure to double-check the amount you’ve entered, as these contributions are nonrefundable and irrevocable once they’re contributed to your Giving Fund, as detailed above.
6. Click “Make contribution”.

Your contribution will be added to your Giving Fund and ready to recommend to certified non-profit fundraisers or charitable organizations.
