Investing the funds in your Giving Fund

You have the option to grow the charitable contributions made to your Giving Fund by investing the funds in your account. Assets in your Giving Fund have the potential to grow tax-free until you’re ready to give, making it a flexible, simplified way to give even more support to the charities you care about.

We offer different portfolio options for you to choose from, depending on your investment needs, and you can liquidate the invested assets in your Giving Fund at any time–whenever you’re ready to donate those funds to charity.

You can follow these steps to start investing your Giving Fund:

  1. Log into your GoFundMe account
  2. Select “Your Giving Fund” from the top right menu
  3. Click “Invest” next to your currently contributed funds
  4. Then click “Start investing”
  5. Read up on the different portfolios you can invest in, and then choose the one that works for you
  6. Click “Select portfolio”, and then “Confirm”

Current GoFundMe Giving Funds portfolio offerings:

  • Treasuries–Government-backed bonds, for stability.
  • Diversified–Mix of global stocks and bonds, for balance.
  • Stocks–Global equities, focused on growth.
  • Sustainability–Stocks and bonds, ESG screened.

Once you’ve invested your Giving Fund contributions you can continue to contribute additional funds, make donations with those funds, and make changes to your portfolio.

Please keep in mind that once you’ve selected an investment portfolio, all additional contributions will automatically be added to that selected portfolio. Your invested funds are always liquid, so they’re available to donate at any time, and you can make changes to your portfolio, including back to ‘cash’ or uninvested, 15 days after your last recommendation.

Follow these steps to change your Giving Fund investment allocations:

  1. Log into your GoFundMe account
  2. Select “Your Giving Fund” from the top right menu
  3. Click the your "All time" percent button in the top right corner of where your available funds are shown:
  4. Click "Change"
  5. Choose which new portfolio you'd like to invest in
  6. Review the portfolio and then select "Select portfolio"
    • You can recommend a portfolio change once every 15 days. So 15 days from the day you change your portfolio, you can request another portfolio change.
