Vanguard - Contributing stocks or ETFs – GoFundMe Giving Fund

Follow these steps to contribute stocks or ETFs from Vanguard:

Sign into your Vanguard account and visit their Gifting Page.
Select “Get started”
For ‘What type of gift do you want to make?” choose Gift to a non-Vanguard Account, then choose the Vanguard account type you’ll be transferring from
Click Continue, review information under “Know what to expect”, and then click Continue again
If you aren’t already signed in, you’ll be prompted to sign in to complete the forms to initiate your stock or ETF transfer
- Note: For maximum tax benefits. Contribute shares you’ve held over a year and have appreciated the most.
Select sending gift to A charity and select No to sending it anonymously.
Fill out the Vanguard form:

Name of Receiving Firm: Alpaca Securities LLC
DTC Number: 3021
Name of Individual: GoFundMe Giving Fund

You can find your Giving Fund account information needed for the transfer within your GoFundMe account:
- Go to your Giving Fund on the web or the app.
- Select “Add Funds” → “Stocks and ETFs”.
- Select “Other brokerages” → “Initiate from your brokerage manually”
- Use your unique Account Number in this page to fill out the Receiving Firm’s Account Number

Use your unique Account Number in this page to fill out the Receiving Institution Account Number.

For maximum tax benefits. Contribute shares you’ve held over a year and have appreciated the most.
Record your cost basis before transferring. Most brokerages don’t keep this once shares leave your account, but you may need it for tax reporting.
Do not check “anonymous” on the form. We need your name to match the transfer.
Only stocks and ETFs are eligible. Mutual funds, fixed income, and other assets aren’t currently supported, and the transfer will fail if they’re included.
We’ll sell your shares once received. The sale proceeds are added to your Giving Fund balance.

Transfers usually take 5–10 business days from when you submit it to your brokerage. Timing depends on your brokerage’s processing times and can sometimes take longer. We’ll notify you once it’s complete.
