Fidelity - Contribute stocks or ETFs

Follow these steps to contribute stocks or ETFs from Fidelity: 

  1. Download and fill out the stock transfer form found here. 
  2. The Gifting Instructions should will be filled out with this information:

Receiving Firm’s Name: Alpaca Securities LLC
Receiving Firm’s DTC Number: 3021
Receiving Firm’s Address: 12 E 49th St, Floor 11, New York, NY 10017
For the Benefit of: GoFundMe Giving Fund 

  1. You can find your Giving Fund account information needed for the transfer within your GoFundMe account:
    • Go to your Giving Fund on web or the app.
    • Select “Add Funds” → “Stocks and ETFs”.
    • Use your unique Account Number in this page to fill out the Receiving Firm’s Account Number
  2. Enter the Securities to be transferred . 
    • Note: Cost basis matters–maximize your tax benefits by picking shares you’ve held for over a year and have appreciated the most. 
  3. Use the QR Code at the bottom of the second page or go to fidelity.com/upload-Transfer-Gift to complete the form and submit any required documentation online.

Things to keep in mind

  • For maximum tax benefits. Contribute shares you’ve held over a year and have appreciated the most.
  • Record your cost basis before transferring. Most brokerages don’t keep this once shares leave your account, but you may need it for tax reporting.
  • Do not check “anonymous” on the form. We need your name to match the transfer.
  • Only stocks and ETFs are eligible. Mutual funds, fixed income, and other assets aren’t currently supported, and the transfer will fail if they’re included.
  • We’ll sell your shares once received. The sale proceeds are added to your Giving Fund balance.
  • Already picked an investment strategy? Your contribution will be invested automatically at the next market opportunity.
  • Transfers usually take 5–10 business days from when you submit it to your brokerage. Timing depends on your brokerage’s processing times and can sometimes take longer. We’ll notify you once it’s complete.
